5th Canadian Division Support Base (5 CDSB) Gagetown celebrated its 18th Annual Military Family Day with a free community fair on Sunday, 16 June 2024.

The event was packed with family activities, recreation, food vendors and much more. There were bouncy castles, a pirate ship fair ride, a mini-train ride, a petting zoo, axe throwing, carnival games, glitter tattoos, and ballon art to name just a few! Food vendors included The Big Cheese, Mini Morsels selling doughnuts, Serious Smoke Fire Food Truck, King’s Express Menu, and Camp Maple Leaf spinning cotton candy. There were also numerous interesting military displays. Families had the opportunity to climb inside a Griffon helicopter, a Mack truck, a Tactical Armoured Patrol vehicle, and a Light Armoured Vehicle. Families could also try out the sirens on a Military Police Patrol car and a fire truck.

A host of local organizations and groups had information booths throughout the event including the New Brunswick Military History Museum, Cadets Canada, Centre Communautaire Saint-Anne, Tourism Oromocto, Canex, Science East, Chaplain Services, Costco, and more!

This annual event is a celebration of military members and their families, providing them with a fun opportunity to socialize and interact within their extended Canadian Armed Forces family. One military member in attendance with his family stated that the event was, “awesome, really nice! And important too. It helps get families out and make connections, which we lose nowadays.”

5 CDSB Gagetown would like to say a big thank you to the Personnel Support Programs staff for organizing this event, and a huge thank you to all who attended and supported this important event!
