We honored our brothers and sisters that courageously served and fought in Afghanistan on the 6th of July, 2022, at 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown (New Brunswick). We, as part of the Royal Canadian Regiment, gave thanks and remembrance to all that served their comrades and country. When Canada called, her soldiers answered and we acknowledged the bravery and heroism of all that served in that mission, for who are still with us, and for those that are not.
This unveiling and dedication ceremony is the culmination of a great deal of effort by, and support from, a large community of people who feel strongly about the purpose of the memorial and the people it honours. The legacy of those we honored is captured here for all to reflect, commemorate, and to learn from those that served our country honourably. The 2nd Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment will be the home of the Afghanistan Memorial for 30 days. After which it will begin its journey to the other Battalions of the Royal Canadian Regiment until it reaches its final destination at the Regimental Museum in London, Ontario.
