Corporal (Cpl) Scott Walter Hasson (retired) received the Commander of the Canadian Army Commendation on June 14, 2024, at 5th Canadian Division Support Base (CDSB) Gagetown.

In recognition of his actions on April 29, 2021, when on his way to work, Cpl Hasson drove by a distraught person along the Burton Bridge in Burton, New Brunswick. He pulled over to check on the person who had climbed on the railing and was then standing on the ledge. Cpl Hasson immediately called Emergency Services and stayed on location until their arrival. Cpl Hasson’s intervention that day likely saved this person’s life, bringing great honour to the Canadian Army.

Colonel (Col) Marc Parent, Base Commander of 5 CDSB Gagetown and Acting Formation Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer James Leck presented the commendation to Cpl Hasson (retd). Col Parent thanked Cpl Hasson (retd) for going “over and above” his duty.

5 CDSB Gagetown congratulates Cpl Hasson (retd) on his achievement and thanks him for his mindfulness and quick action in a tense situation.
