The selfless work of volunteers from across 5th Canadian Division Support Base (5 CDSB) Gagetown were recognize during a celebration that took place in Oromocto on February 03, 2024.

Volunteers, along with their guests, enjoyed a night out with dinner and a Clue – On Stage! murder mystery as part of the annual “Canex Gives Back Volunteer Recognition Event.”

On behalf of the base, Colonel Marc Parent, 5 CDSB Gagetown Commander, and Chief Warrant Officer Michael Hawthorn, Formation Sergent Major, thanked the volunteers – who work with the New Brunswick Military Family Resource Centre (NBMFRC) and Personnel Support Programs (PSP) – for their efforts and dedication to the Defence Team.

Volunteers play a vital role in contributing to the numerous clubs and events at 5 CDSB Gagetown and the Oromocto community.

PSP volunteers helped with clubs such as the Tankers Scuba Club, the Gagetown Archery Club, and the Gage Golf & Curling Club.

NBMFRC volunteers’ Knitting and Crocheting club knitted hats for newborn babies, dish cloths for the food bank, and created stuffed animals for women’s shelters. They are currently working with the New Brunswick Military History Museum (located on the base) to knit warm winter goods for troops deployed to Latvia.

No matter the role, no matter the number of hours, the joint efforts of volunteers make a difference and help support out military community!
