This National Volunteer Appreciation Week, 5th Canadian Support Base (5 CDSB) Gagetown would like to take this opportunity to celebrate the work of volunteers that help in the organization and conduct of various events on base.

Volunteers at 5 CDSB Gagetown aide in the operation of numerous events and clubs such as the Tankers Scuba Club, the Gagetown Archery Club, the Gage ATV Club, and the Gage Golf & Curling Club, to name a few.

This year, volunteers from the New Brunswick Military Family Resource Centre’s Knitting and Crocheting club knitted hats for newborn babies, dish cloths for the food bank, and created stuffed animals for women’s shelters. They also worked in conjunction with the New Brunswick Military History Museum (located on the base) to knit warm winter goods for troops deployed to Latvia. There were two shipments of warm clothing to the troops in Latvia, both of which were greatly appreciated and helped boost morale.

National Volunteer Appreciation Week occurs on the third week of April each year to celebrate the significant contributions that volunteers make throughout Canada. Volunteers have and continue to play a significant role at 5 CDSB Gagetown. No matter the role or the number of hours, each contribution made by these volunteers helps support our military community.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication!
