Gagetown Command Team Visits Camp Maple Leaf

The Commander of 5th Canadian Division Support Group Gagetown, Colonel Marc Parent, and the Formation Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer Michael Hawthorn, were welcomed to Camp Maple Leaf by its President, Kim Smith, at Greenhill Lake on the 10th of August, 2022.

Established in 1955, Camp Maple Leafe is a registered charity that has welcomed thousands of children over the past 65 years who share unique life challenges. For children from Canadian Military Families for example, the frequent relocations inherent in military life can challenge their ability to develop lasting friendships. They can cope with unique uncertainties such as lengthy deployments of family members, impact of an injury to a parent, the inherent stress of families involved in military service, and for some…the impact of grief and loss. Le Commandant du Groupe de soutien de la 5e Division du Canada, Colonel Mar Parent, et le Sergent-major du Groupe, adjudant-chef Michael Hawthorn, ont été accueillis au Camp Maple Leaf par leur président, Kim Smith, au Lac Greenhill le 10 août 2022.

L’organisme de bienfaisance fondé en 1955, le Camp Maple Leaf a accueilli des milliers d’enfants qui rencontrent des difficultés semblables au cours des 65 dernières années. Les enfants des militaires, par exemple, ont souvent du mal à nouer des amitiés durables à cause des déménagements fréquents. Ils composent aussi souvent avec l’incertitude liée aux longs déploiements ou aux blessures des membres de leur famille causant un facteur de stress inhérents à la vie militaire.
