Base Gagetown recently hosted The Honourable Ginette Taylor Petipas, Minister of Veterans Affairs, and Member of Parliament (MP) Jenica Atwin. The visit, conducted on November 6, 2023, was part of the events leading up to the Remembrance Day Ceremony which took place on Saturday, November 11th in the Town of Oromocto.

Minister Petipas and MP Atwin toured the New Brunswick Military Museum, where they were some of the first to see the newly opened Royal New Brunswick Regiment Gallery. The gallery is a testament to the rich military heritage of the area and adds a modern chapter to the museum’s narrative.

The visit also included a moment of respect at the Oromocto Light Armoured Vehicle (LAV) Memorial, where Minister Petipas laid a wreath — a reminder of the sacrifices made by past members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The day’s events were rounded off with lunch at the Base Kitchen Mess, building H33, providing a moment for informal exchanges between them and various dignitaries belonging to the base.

The visit preceded the National Day of Remembrance strengthening the bond between the nation’s leaders and its defenders.
