Hunt for Heroes outdoors Inc., is a non-profit organization founded by a retired Canadian army veteran and outdoor enthusiast. Operated by volunteers who facilitate mental health awareness and outdoor adventures to CAF veterans (retired or serving), first responders, and their families.
Hunt for Heroes Outdoors Inc has a variety of programming including backcountry travel, hunting, fishing and archery. We also connect individuals to activities through outside agencies as we believe partnerships and collaborative programming will best serve our community.
Although our programming demonstrates trauma informed practice, we are also aware that diagnosed or not, participants can still struggle with operational stress due to the nature of living and working within a military or first responder environment. Therefore, a formal diagnosis is not necessary to participate. From a prevention standpoint, we believe the skills that can be developed through our organization can build community, increase self-efficacy, and foster healing and resiliency.
