The Frozen Fireballs won the annual Logistics Branch curling bonspiel, known as the “Logspiel,” which was held over two days from February 16-17, 2024, at the Gage Golf and Curling Club.

The winning team from Combat Training Centre Headquarters consisted of Warrant Officer (WO) Eric Leclair, WO Jason Murphy, Sergeant Phil Misener, and Mr Dean Gratten. Each team member received a $100 gift card in addition to bragging rights for winning the “A” Division.

The competition was divided into four divisions, with the Glacial Gladiators winning the “B” Division, the Rock Runners winning the “C” Division, and Sweep Dreams winning the “D” Division, all from the Technical Services unit at 5th Canadian Division Support Group.

The tournament included 20 teams of four players each drawn from current and retired members of the Royal Canadian Logistics Service and Department of National Defence logistics personnel.

There were several additional prizes awarded, including gift cards donated by local businesses and an assortment of tools.

The intent of the curling Logspiel is to provide a venue where personnel can have fun, make some new friends, and re-establish connections with some old acquaintance.

Along with a competitive and enjoyable time curling, participants had the opportunity to socialize and reconnect both on the ice and while enjoying meals together.

The annual Logspiel plays a key role in bolstering the esprit de corps amongst 5th Canadian Division Logisticians.
