Personnel Support Program

Join us at the NBMFRC this April for a variety of special events to honor the children in your families.

For creative youth there are several art programs planned for April. The dandelion’s strength and ability put down roots anywhere its seeds are scattered makes it the chosen flower to represent military children. There are a couple of dandelion inspired projects this month, Paint and Sip for kids 8+ on April 20 ($10) and a tissue paper art piece at the Youth Centre Hangout (ages 9+) on April 4 at 6pm (Free). On April 16 at 6pm we have a Parent and Child session where parents and children of all ages can join us to paint a round, wooden wall sign together representing the strength and resilience of military kids. For the older crowd (ages 9+), this sign project will also be offered at our Youth Centre Hangout session on April 18 at 6pm. This project has a cost of $20 and you can choose an English or French version.

Teal Up is the National Day of Recognition within the Month of the Military Child, with the colors of all 3 branches combining to form teal – green for the army, blue for the Navy, and blue and white for the Air Force. That evening the NBMFRC will host a kids’ carnival with BBQ hot dogs and traditional carnival treats and games from 4:30-6:00pm (free).

Our final event of the month will be an invitation to families to join us on Sunday, April 28 at 2pm at the Fredericton Playhouse for It’s Okay to Be Different– Stories by Todd Parr. This performance explores important and timely subjects in a way that’s understandable to children and includes three different stories, based on Parr’s bestselling children’s books. It’s Okay to Be Different cleverly delivers the important messages of acceptance, understanding, and self-confidence and is designed for children ages 4-10.

We do ask that families call or drop in to the NBMFRC to register (registration deadlines are typically 3 business days prior to the event). For those programs with a fee, we do accept payment via credit card over the phone but require payment in person for other methods of payment. Call 506-422-3352 to reserve your spots in all the great programs we have planned.
