5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown conducted activities in support of Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on the 28th of September, 2022. Under the guidance and advice of Elder Chris Brooks, and with the assistance of both Warrant Officer George Loza and Sergeant Oziryel Kaitoa, members of the Base participated in a smudging ceremony, healing walk, sweat ceremony and feast.

“The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is deeply important to us all. The residential school system represents a tragic and painful period in our collective history. Taking the time to share the stories and knowledge of survivors, and those that didn’t come home, are essential for healing and reconciliation.” (Colonel Marc Parent, Commander 5th Canadian Division Support Group)
