Perched culverts can be a barrier to fish trying to swim upstream to spawning areas and other important habitat. This summer, as part of their duties with the 5 CDSG Environmental Service Branch, Holly Campbell and Hayley Banks collected data on fish communities and habitat on watercourses with perched culverts in the 5 CDSB Gagetown training area. This information will be used to help prioritize culverts for removal or replacement as part of training area road maintenance activities.
