Members of the Gagetown Warriors Powerlifting Team attained podium finishes at the New Brunswick (NB) Provincial championship in May 2024 and the Atlantic Regional Powerlifting Championship in November 2023.

The Gagetown Warriors team proudly represents 5th Canadian Division Support Base (5 CDSB) Gagetown in several civilian sanctioned competitions through the Canadian Powerlifting Union (CPU) and helps promote a healthy lifestyle on base.

Powerlifting is a strength sport consisting of three attempts of maximal weight. Competitions typically have squat, bench press, and deadlift, though there are some variations.

5 CDSB Gagetown would like to highlight the recent achievements of the Gagetown Warriors:

Corporal (Cpl) Nicolas Friolet (Royal New Brunswick Regiment) – placed second in Jr 93kg weight class at the NB Provincial championship. Cpl Friolet also holds the provincial bench press record for the Jr 105kg weight class with a 182.5kg bench press, which he achieved March 10, 2024.

Private (Pte) Meagan Perreault-Boutin (Corps of Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) – placed third in the women’s 84kg open category at the NB Provincial Powerlifting Championship. Pte Perreault-Boutin also won first place in the women’s 84kg open category and achieved second place overall for females at the Atlantic Regional Powerlifting Championship.
