Cpl David Provost joined the Canadian Armed Forces to make a difference and couldn’t wait to deploy overseas. When he deployed to Latvia for Op Reassurance, from June to December 2020, he didn’t know he was going to be the hero of his own love story. When Cpl Provost met MCpl Stephanie Barrete, an X-Ray technician, it was love at first sight. The two of them are self-identified “Gym Rats” who went above and beyond their orders to re-imagine and subsequently re-invigorate the gym which turned out to be a huge benefit to the entire Canadian contingent there and helped to boost morale during the lockdowns due to COVID-19. The fit duo completed a marathon and a fitness competition before returning to Canada. They have been married since January and are expecting a baby boy in December!
