Have your employees taken annual leave? Will they be submitting leave for the holiday season? Do you anticipate parental leave? Make it a priority to stay updated on your team’s leave plans.

Discussing leave and creating leave plans with your employees allows you to properly prepare for their absence. It’s important to look ahead and ensure your team can carry on with business as usual without being overworked.

As you plan and approve leave for the fall and winter seasons, you can submit any short term acting (accessible only on the National Defence network) covering those leave periods at least 20 working days before the start date. This will help ensure the acting employee is paid in a timely manner.  To submit a short term acting request, use the Manager Self-Service HR Request in GC HRMS 8.9 (accessible only on the National Defence network) or contact an agent at HR Connect RH (accessible only on the National Defence network) who can submit the request on your behalf.

This is also a great opportunity for managers to educate employees of the types of leave options available to them and make sure they are submitting the proper requests, avoiding any delays in the approval process. Submitting a timely request helps make sure employees are paid on time and accurately!
